Pets of the Week
Pet of the week #1
Thomas
Sex: Male
Breed: Foxhound blend
Age: Young Adult
ID: 33331
Thomas is a young Foxhound mix who came to us as a lost pet. He is a very handsome guy with the cutest puppy-dog face. We estimate Thomas to be about 1-2 years old. He walks easy on the leash, and with his low-to-medium energy level, this boy who would be great for most any home. He has great manners, already knows how to sit, and he seems to be housetrained.  Sounds perfect, doesn’t he? It gets better. As far as we can tell, he likes other animals too! Thomas arrived here with a skin condition, but he's on medicine and well on the road to recovery. A mild skin condition won’t stop this happy boy from loving life- so come meet him today!  More information and pictures of Thomas can be seen here.

Pet of the week #2
Loopy
Sex: Male
Breed: DSH, Black
Age: Young Adult
ID: 25837
Loopy is an awesome cat, currently in foster care. Read what his foster mom has to say about him. "I would describe Loopy as 'quirky'. He is a one year old male cat who had an unknown type of head trauma when he was a young kitten. Due to this past trauma, he usually holds his head at a slight tilt. He is not a lap cat but he does purr, and he likes to be petted. He loves to play with toys. Loopy is cautious and takes some time to warm up to new people and situations. If he has a patient person willing to give him time to adapt, he will be a great new companion for them." Loopy is already neutered and microchipped, so he is ready to go home with you today! If you are interested in Loopy, email foster@delcospca.org More information and pictures of Loopy are available here.

Surrendering Your Pet to the SPCA
Surrendering your pet to the SPCA is a personal decision that should not be taken lightly. With 8,000 animals arriving each year competition is high, and adopters want the healthiest and friendliest dogs and cats. We will gladly accept your pet if we can, but you should look into alternative arrangements such as putting your pet in the care of a responsible and trustworthy family member or neighbor, doing further research to find housing that accepts pets and contacting local rescue groups. In the end, if you feel you must bring your pet to us, you should be prepared to help out by bringing us all papers relevant to your pet's veterinary history, especially with regard to vaccinations and spay/neuter. Include names and contact information for any veterinarians who have seen your pet. Having your dog or cat spayed or neutered and brought up to date with all vaccines will also increase the chance we will be able to accept your pet right away. We also encourage you to make a sizeable donation toward the care of your pet while they are at the SPCA. When you bring in your pet you will be given the opportunity to fill out a personality profile describing your animal. What you say can make a tremendous difference! Being truthful about your animal's temperament and medical needs will help us find the right home and will protect you from any possible liability. Please remember to bring your driver's license showing your current address.
