The Delaware County SPCA has an ever-growing volunteer program, designed to teach you animal handling and customer service skills, while enhancing the lives of the thousands of animals in our care each year.
Volunteers are an ESSENTIAL part of the SPCA. Without them, the shelter could not operate so efficiently! We offer many volunteering opportunities in and outside of the shelter. Many "New" volunteers start off with cleaning and direct animal care. By becoming a part of other programs and doing more diverse tasks you will quickly gain enough hours to be considered an "Associate", "Experienced" or "Senior" volunteer. We work as a team to ensure every animal is given proper, humane care and the chance to find a loving forever home. Become a part of our program today by dowloading the Volunteer Application and emailing it to our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@delcospca.org. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and have reliable transportation. Once your application is reviewed, you will be called or emailed to attend a Volunteer Orientation. Orientations are typically help twice a month on either Saturday or Sunday from 11am-12:30pm. Upon completion of the Orientation, you will receive personalized training for "jobs" related to your skill set and interests.
Volunteer "jobs" include, but are not limited to:
