Do you want to be a part of a mission that is
positively impacting the lives of local homeless animals?
Do you want to feel good about yourself everyday because you know you are making a difference in an animal’s life? Do you want to meet new people who share the same passion for animals that you do? Are you willing to get your hands dirty if it
means being a part of a bigger cause? |

First, come by our facility and ask at the front desk for
a volunteer information form. Once you have filled it out and returned it to a
staff member at the front desk, they will pass it along to the Volunteer
Department. Within a week you will get a call to come in for an information
session. There you will take a tour and learn more about Delaware
If you are still interested in being a volunteer, and we certainly hope you are, you can then fill out an application. There are limited openings in certain areas of our volunteer program, so we will be utilizing an interview process to fill the available positons. We will call you to arrange for a phone or in-person interview. If you are a good fit for the program, you will be invited into a CARE 101 course which will give you a more thorough tour and explanation on how the SPCA works.
After your initial 12 hours of volunteer work you will be
able to sign up for different classes that will expand your experience at
Delaware
What do we ask from our Volunteers?
1- Commitment. Please consider volunteering a
serious commitment. We depend on you to keep the facility running smoothly. Your
presence is needed!
2- Time. We require a 6-month commitment for at
least 10 hours a month.
3- Knowledge. Learn while you’re here! The more
courses you take, the more experience and skills you’ll acquire to participate
in more clubs. Challenge yourself!
4- Support. Support our staff, our philosophies,
policies, mission and procedures inside and outside the Adoption Center.
5- Honesty. Be honest and realistic with us and
with yourself concerning your needs, wishes and availability.
6- Fun. Why would you be here if you didn’t have a good time? If you are positive, people will feel your good energy and be positive too.

Yes, Volunteering is Fun!
